It recently came to my attention that the current short term disability maximum benefit did not provide coverage at the 66 2/3 coverage rate for everyone. It has been a couple of years since we requested a payout update. I have spoken with Cross Insurance, and we are in the process of completing a new consensus to establish a new maximum benefit based upon current member earnings. This process will require members participating in the STD benefit to update their benefit paperwork once we have finalized the new benefit. We will notify everyone when that needs to be done.
Additionally, we have updated the member documents on the website under member resources. The STD form reflects the new rate as part of the formula for calculating your payment. The other forms are updated with my contact information and address for MSLEA as well as the new dues rate. Treasurer Kelly Hebert created an instructions page to help members to complete claims forms for STD. That is now attached in the claims section.
